Who we are
We have over 100 members in Islington, and we’re a pretty active and varied bunch. True, we’re a political party, but we’re not quite like the others.IGP is not an outfit people join and scrap their way to the top because they see it as a career path to Westminster! Our members and hard working activists are just ordinary people who want to make Islington a better place in which to live, and don’t see the other parties doing that. We also believe that politics should be fun. When it isn’t, we’ll stop.
IGP is a deliberately loose, open organisation, but some members are responsible for the key jobs: if you join IGP, these are the people you will come across early on…
Katie Dawson, our councillor, leads the charge at the Council.
Lindy Sharpe isour Membership secretary, and is probably the first person new members meet. Mick Holloway, IGP Treasurer, then makes sure we spend your membership subs properly.
Michael Coffey, Campaigns Manager, runs our election strategy and logistics, alongside Elections Agent Stephen Horne. Press officer is James Humphreys.
In the council wards of Highbury West and Highbury East, we have a strong council candidate team ready for the 2010 elections, led by Katie. She is backed by Aled Fisher, Emma Dixon, Andrew Myer, Jon Nott and James Humphreys, all local residents and well-known community activists.
Emma and James are also our Prospective Parliamentary Candidates for Islington North and Islington South respectively
