Drayton Park crossing petition

Green Party Councillor Katie Dawson won an amendment to the 2009 Council budget to bring in 20mph limits on all residential roads in Islington. This is a great start and will make a huge difference to people living, shopping, or just walking along Drayton Park. But recent years have brought hundreds of new homes to the street, as well as major new pedestrian links across the Emirates podium, and we think still more improvement is needed.

The majority of Islington residents (58%) don’t have access to a car, so it seems only fair to start designing our streets with the well being of all the local community in mind. Islington Green Party is organising local petitions like this all over Highbury, road by road and junction by junction, to submit to the council to make our streets safer. We will be putting a motion to the council in the New Year for a new pedestrian crossing across Drayton Park, near the junction with Martineau Road.

We the undersigned call on Islington Council to provide a new pedestrian crossing across Drayton Park, near the junction with Martineau Road.
